Ive long been inspired by the friendly and peaceful view of rural life as portrayed by the wooden toys and folk sculpture of New England. The staying power of these depictions intrigues me despite knowing that our relationship with the environment is often much more complicated. My work continues in these traditions, materials and even the fantasy in which nature is concerned for our welfare, shares our goals, thinks like we do, exists for our benefit.
